Do you know where your money goes? There are the basic expenses that most everyone has such as mortgage, insurance and car payment or maybe two. Utilities are a must and food is always a good thing to have, but could you make an educated guess or do you really have no idea how much you spend a month. Well your not alone. Most people don't.
How can you spend less if you don't know what your spending now? You would be surprised to see how $5 here and $2 there adds up. This seems to be where people fail. The thinking is, "It's only $5." Well it's five dollars today and five dollars tommorrow and so on. After a month of just five dollars a day and pretty soon you've spent $150 dollars on what? What could you do with $150 dollars? The idea is that if you cut back on the frivilous things, you can enjoy spending more where it really matters. That's called budgeting.
This is not an easy change. It's a habit that you have and breaking habits is hard to do.

- Plan your errands out so that you get it all done in one trip, in order to save gas. Mow the lawn instead of paying someone to do it for you.
- Give yourself a spending allowance for groceries and always take a list and a calculator.
- Shop naked! Leave your credit cards at home.
- Only take $20 dollars in cash, this will prevent you from overspending.
